Students had their homework checked (Worksheet 8-15) before we played Jeopardy to review for tomorrow's test.

Day 133

Students worked in their groups today to complete the circuits lab from pages 8-19 through 8-22.

Worksheet 8-15 was assigned for homework, and the chapter 8 test will be in two days (this Friday, March 31st).

Day 132

We discussed section 8-6 notes on electrical circuits and watched a www.brainpop.com video on the same topic.  After taking the quiz, we completed worksheets 8-13 & 8-14 together before the end of class.

Day 131

Students turned in their 27th science news article, and this was the last one for the third marking period.  We discussed the difference between wet cells and dry cells from section 8-5 notes.  We watched a www.brainpop.com video on batteries but did not take the quiz on it.  Students were given 5 minutes to complete problem #6 on worksheet 8-2 and I went over the solution after that 5 minutes.  Finally, students were assigned worksheet 8-4, #6a, b and c during the last five minutes of class.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 8 test will be this Friday, March 31st.

Day 130

Mr. Girardi was in for me today.  He discussed section 8-4 notes on electrical energy, including how to read an electric meter.  Students were assigned worksheet 8-11 to be worked on during class, and Mr. Girardi went over the answers with them during the last 5 minutes of class.

News article #27 is due on Monday, and the chapter 8 test will be on Friday, March 31st.

Day 129

We discussed section 8-2 notes on static electricity and watched a www.brainpop.com video on the same topic.  After taking the quiz, we experimented with the Van de Graff generator to show the difference between conduction and induction.

Day 128

Mr. Girardi was in for me today.  Students took the Ohm's Law quiz in class, and when they were done, they watched the second half of the electricity video from yesterday.

Day 127

We went over worksheet 8-3 from yesterday at the beginning of class.  Students were assigned worksheets 8-9 and 8-10 to work on in their groups for 12 minutes, and we went over those answers after everyone was done.  For the rest of class, we watched the first 22 minutes of an Electricity video.

No homework was assigned, and the Ohm's Law quiz is tomorrow.

Day 126

Shortened classes due to PM "Book Thief" assembly.

Students turned in their 26th science news article today.  We discussed section 8-4 notes on electrical energy.  Students were assigned problems #1-5 on worksheet 8-2, and all five problems on worksheet 8-3.

No homework was assigned, and the Ohm's Law quiz will be this Wednesday, March 22nd.

Day 125

We went over section 8-3 notes on Ohm's Law.  Students completed worksheets 8-5, 8-6, 8-7 and 8-8 within their groups, and we went over the answers before the end of the period.

2-Hour Delay Schedule

Students were given their new packets for chapter 8 on electricity.  We reviewed section 8-1 notes on subatomic particles and watched a www.brainpop.com video on Electricity.  We ended class by completing worksheet 8-1 together.

No homework was assigned, and the Electricity Quiz will be on Wednesday, March 22nd.

Day 123

Students turned in their 25th science news article at the beginning of today's class.  They spent the rest of the class time taking a practice PSSA science test.

Day 122

Students had their chapter 7 notebooks and pulley lab packets checked today for 100 points.  During that time, we watched Mythbusters Viral Videos.

News article #25 is due on Monday, and the Electricity Quiz will be on Friday, March 17th.

Students took their chapter 7 test online today.

Students turned in their homework assignment at the beginning of class.  For the rest of the period, we played Jeopardy to review for tomorrow's test.

Students were tasked with completing the pulley lab by the end of today's class.  If they completed early, they could begin tonight's homework.

Worksheets 15-19 and 15-20 are due at the beginning of tomorrow's class, and the chapter 7 test will be on Thursday, March 9th.

Day 118

I collected the online lab at the very beginning of class.  Student then had the opportunity to present their 24th news articles to the class for extra credit.  They continued to work on the Pulley Lab, with the goal being to complete page 10 by the end of the period.

Day 117

Students were given a new packet today to begin a 3-day lab on working with pulleys.  They worked in their groups with the goal being to be done through the bottom of page 6 by the end of the period.

News article #24 and the online lab are both due on Monday, and the chapter 7 test will be on Thursday, March 9th.

Day 116

We discussed section 7-7 notes on the ideal mechanical advantage of simple machines.  We completed worksheets 15-17 and 15-18 together.  We then went over problems 2, 3 & 4 from worksheet 15-8.  Finally, students were given time to complete worksheet 15-10, if they hadn't previously completed it.

The online lab packet is due on Monday (along with news article #24), and the chapter 7 test will be on Thursday, March 9th.

Day 115

Today is the 7th day of the online simple machines lab.  The goal today is to complete the remainder of the lab inclusive through page 21.
