Day 152

Today we took a walking field trip to the movie theater to see "Zookeeper's Wife".  After lunch, we only had 10-minute classes, so we just reviewed for tomorrow's test.

The notebook check and news article #32 will be on Monday, and the chapter 11 test will be tomorrow.

Day 151

After the last PSSA math test today, we played Jeopardy to review for Friday's test.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 11 test will be this Friday.

Day 150

*I don't know what happened to day 149, but apparently I miscounted somewhere along the way.

With two math PSSA exams today, students had about 30 minutes for each core class.  During that time in science class, they were assigned the lone remaining worksheet, page 11-13, to be completed in class.  We went over the answers during the final 10 minutes of class.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 11 test will be on Friday, April 28th.

Day 148

Students turned in their 31st science news articles today at the beginning of class.  For the remainder of class time, students worked in their groups to complete pages 11-9 and 11-12, both of which we went over during the last 10 minutes of class.

Day 147

We discussed section 11-3 notes on heat engines and energy conversions.  We completed worksheet 11-11 together in class before going outside to complete pages 11-6 and 11-4.

News article #31 is due on Monday, and the chapter 11 test will be on Friday, April 28th.

Day 146

I had jury duty today, so Mr. Kuriga was in for me.  Students learned about the law of conservation of energy and E=mc2.  They were assigned worksheets 11-7 & 11-8 to be worked on in their groups, and Mr. K went over the answers during the last five minutes of class.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 11 test will be on Thursday, April 27th.

Day 145

I collected the online energy lab packets at the beginning of class.  They will be graded out of 50 possible points.  Students then had the opportunity to summarize their 30th news article out loud for extra credit before handing them in.  Finally, for the remainder of class, students took test "B" of the science PSSA practice test.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 11 test will be on Thursday, April 27th.

Day 144

Today was the final day for students to work on the online energy lab.  I demonstrated how to complete Activity 3, and students had the entire period to complete pages 10 & 11.

The online lab packet and news article #30 are both due on Wednesday, April 19th, and the chapter 11 test will be on Thursday, April 27th.

Day 143

Students continued to work on the online energy lab today.  They had to create a graph for both sets of yesterday's data and answer the questions on page 7 by the end of the period.

Day 142

Students worked on the online energy lab again today.  The goal was to be done through the bottom of page 6.

Day 141

I collected the 29th science news article of the year at the beginning of class.  For the remainder of class, students were given a new packet to begin an online lab about energy.  They can access the lab and related FAQ via Moodle.  The goal for today was to be done through page 3.

Day 140

We discussed the second part of section 11-2 notes on Kinetic Energy.  We watched a www.brainpop.com video on the topic and took the quiz afterwards.  Students worked in their groups for three minutes on worksheet 11-5 before we went over the answers.  Finally, students used the last 8 minutes of class to complete worksheet 11-3.

News article #29 is due on Monday, and the chapter 11 test will be on Thursday, April 27th.

Day 139

Today was the last day for PSSA ELA exams.  During science class, we went over worksheets 11-1 and 11-2 from yesterday.  I introduced the half of section 11-2 notes on Potential Energy and watched a www.brainpop.com video on that topic.  After taking the BrainPop quiz, students worked in their groups to complete the lab on worksheet 11-10.

Day 138

Students took another PSSA ELA exam at the beginning of school today.  During their science class, I handed out the new packet for chapter 11 (Energy).  We discussed section 11-1 notes on forms of energy and watched a www.brainpop.com video on the topic.  We ended class with students working in their groups to complete worksheets 11-1 and 11-2.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 11 test will be on Thursday, April 27th.

Day 137

Delayed post from yesterday.

Students took their first two PSSA ELA exams today.  As a result, we only had 27 minute core classes, which was enough time to show them a video about Lightning Safety.

Delayed post from Monday.

Students turned in their 28th science news article at the start of today's class.  I then checked their chapter 8 notebooks for 100 points while they watched a Mythbusters episode about Ben Franklin's kite experiment.
