Day 114

Today was the sixth day that students had to work on the simple machines online lab.  The goal today is to be somewhere in the middle of page 19 by the end of the period.

The lab packet will be collected on Monday, March 6th, and the chapter 7 test will be on Thursday, March 9th.

Day 113

Students turned in their 23rd science news article at the start of class.  They had the remaining class time to work on the online lab, with the goal being to be done through page 16 by the end of class.

No homework was assigned, but the online lab is due next Monday for 105 points, and the chapter 7 test will be on Thursday, March 9th.

Day 112

(delayed post from Friday)

Students took their chapter 7 vocab quiz at the beginning of class.  Upon completion, they continued to work on the online lab.  Their goal was to be done with the first graph on page 13 by the end of class.

News article #23 is due on Monday, and the Chapter 7 test will be around March 9th.

Day 111

Students spent day 3 of the online simple machines lab exploring the usefulness of inclined planes.  The goal for the day was to be done with the graph on page 10.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 7 vocab quiz will be tomorrow.

Day 110

Today is the second day of the online simple machines lab.  The goal for today is to be somewhere in the middle of page 6 by the end of the period.

Day 109

Students were given a new packet to begin an online lab on simple machines.  There were shown how to access the lab module through Moodle.  The goal for the end of the period was to be done with page 3.

Day 108

Students turned in their 22nd science news article at the beginning of class.  We discussed the three classes of levers and watched a www.brainpop.com video on Levers.  Students worked in their groups to complete worksheets 12, 15 & 16.

Day 107

We had 30 minute classes today to accommodate the movie, "42", in the afternoon.  In class, we discussed section 7-6 notes on wheel & axle, wedge, screw and pulley.  We watched a www.brainpop.com video on Pulleys, and we ended class by completing worksheet 15-11.

News article #22 is due on Monday, 2/20/17, and the vocab quiz will be on Friday, February 24th.

Day 106

Students worked in their groups to complete the inclined plane lab on pages 15-13 and 15-14.  We will go over the results tomorrow.

The conclusion questions from today's lab should be done by tomorrow, and the chapter 7 vocab quiz will be a week from tomorrow, on February 24th.

Day 105

Students turned in their 21st science news article at the beginning of today's class.  We discussed Inclined Planes and watched a www.brainpop.com video on this topic.  We reviewed the problems that were assigned to students yesterday (#5 & #7 on page 15-9).

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 7 vocab quiz will be on Friday, February 24th.

Day 104

Delayed post from yesterday.

Ms. Matson-Warner was in for me today.  Students were assigned worksheet 15-9, problems #5 & #7.

Mrs. Wagner took over my classes today to guide students towards their course selections for next year.

Day 102

We had 20 minute classes today due to a field trip to the Community Arts Center in the morning.  During class, we discussed section 7-3 and 7-4 on work input, work output, mechanical advantage and efficiency.  We completed parts A - D from problem #1 on page 15-8.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 7 vocab test will be on Friday, February 24th.

Day 101

Students turned in their Week #20 science news article at the beginning of class.  I handed back the work & power quizzes from Friday and students put those answers on the board.  Finally, we reviewed worksheets 15-5 and 15-6 from Friday's class, with students volunteering to put those answers up on the board.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 7 vocab quiz will be on Friday, February 24th.

Day 100

Students took the Work & Power quiz today for 40 points.  After completing the quiz, they were assigned pages 15-5 & 15-6 to be completed by the end of the period.

Day 99

(Late post for yesterday)

Today we completed the lab from worksheet 15-7 that tasked students with walking and running up the staircase to find their work and power.  After they completed the lab questions, we went over the rest of the answers from worksheets 15-3 & 15-4 from Wednesday's class.

No homework was assigned, and the Work & Power quiz will be on Friday, February 3rd.

Day 98

We reviewed worksheet 15-2 from yesterday with student putting their answers on the board.  I assigned pages 15-3 & 15-4 to be completed in class in 21 minutes.  We went over the first 5 answers before the end of the period.
