We discussed section 10-5 notes on different types of light.  Students watched their final www.brainpop.com video on Light and took their final quiz afterwards.  They completed worksheets 10-6 and 10-7 within seven minutes in their group before we went over the answers.  With any time that was left over, they watch brief videos on how neon lights are made.

We only had 24 minute classes today due to the afternoon field day.  During class, we discussed section 10-6 notes on mirrors.  Students were given samples of plane, concave and convex mirrors, and they learned how each reflects light to produce different images.  Students then completed worksheets 10-9 and 10-10 before the end of class.

I checked worksheet 6-12 & 6-13 for homework at the beginning of class.  We then played Jeopardy for the remainder of class to prepare for tomorrow's test.

Day 91

Today is the first day of the 3rd marking period.  Students turned in their 18th science news article at the beginning of class.  We reviewed worksheet 6-11 before they were assigned worksheet 6-9, which we went over in the last 10 minutes of class.

Worksheets 6-12 & 6-13 are due tomorrow, and the chapter 6 test will be on Wednesday, January 25th.

Day 90

Students completed a STEM survey while watching coverage of the presidential inauguration.  They had about 10-15 minutes remaining to get a news article for Monday or work on other homework.

News article #18 is due on Monday and the chapter 6 test will be on Wednesday, January 25th.

Day 89

We watched a brief 90-second video on the world record space jump and discussed how gravity influenced that feat.  We went over section 6-4 notes on gravity's effect on airborne objects.  After watching a www.brainpop.com video on Gravity and taking the ensuing quiz, we completed worksheet 6-7 together.

No homework was assigned, and the Chapter 6 test will be on Wednesday, January 25th.

We went over worksheet 6-6 at the beginning of class.  Students then worked in their groups to complete a 4-square based on Isaac Newton's different laws.  We completed worksheet 6-10 together, and students worked on page 6-11 during the last 5 minutes of class.

No homework was assigned, and the chapter 6 test will be on Wednesday, January 25th.

Students got their Force quizzes back today and we went over the answers.  We discussed section 6-5 notes on Gravity and weight.  We did worksheet 6-5 together, and I assigned worksheet 6-8 to be worked on for 10 minutes in their groups, and we went over the answers at the end of class.

Students turned in the 17th science news article at the beginning of class today.  We discussed section 6-3 notes on Newton's Laws of Motion and watched a www.brainpop.com video on the same topic.  We ended class with students working in their groups to complete worksheet 6-6.

No homework was assigned (as long as they finished worksheet 6-6 in class), and the chapter 6 test will be on Wednesday, January 25th.

Day 84

No school yesterday (Wednesday, January 11, due to weather)

Today we made up any work missed due to Tuesday's early dismissal.  Students then completed worksheets 6-3 and 6-4 in their groups.  We had enough time to go over page 6-3 before the bell.

No homework was assigned, and the Force Quiz will be tomorrow.

Early dismissal at 12:30; Did not meet with periods 7 nor 8

We discussed section 6-2 notes on the different types of friction and learned about Newton's 2nd Law of Motion, F=ma.  We watched a www.brainpop.com video on Forces, and students completed worksheet 6-2 within their groups before we went over the answers together at the end of class.

No homework was assigned, and the Force Quiz is now scheduled for Friday, January 13th.

Students turned in their 16th science news article at the start of class.  I handed out the new packets for chapter 6 and we discussed section 6-1 notes on balanced and unbalanced forces.  After completing worksheet 6-1 together, we watched a Bill Nye video on forces.

We checked the homework (worksheet 5-17) at the beginning of class.  I handed back their graded Farcebook rubrics and answered any questions they had.  For the rest of the period, we played Jeopardy to review for the chapter 5 test.

Day 78

Students turned in their 15th science news article at the beginning of today's class.  We then discussed section 5-4 notes on Momentum.  I took them out in the hallway for a demonstration on momentum, and afterwards, students worked within their groups to complete worksheet 5-12.  We went over the answers to those five problems with 10 minutes of class.

Worksheet 5-17 is due tomorrow, and the chapter 5 test will be on Thursday, May 5th.
